Lil Baby, born Dominique Armani Jones on December 3, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He rose to prominence in 2017 after releasing his mixtapes "Harder than Hard" and "Too Hard," with the lead single "My Dawg" entering the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Before his rap career, Lil Baby was involved in street hustling and spent time in prison for a probation violation.

His music career kicked off in earnest after his release from prison in 2017, when he began working closely with Quality Control Records and influential Atlanta rappers Young Thug and Gunna, who became his mentors.

Lil Baby gained rapid attention through his unique style and storytelling, releasing his debut studio album "Harder Than Ever" in 2018, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. The album featured hit singles like "Southside" and the collaboration "Yes Indeed" with Drake.

Lil Baby continued his success with subsequent projects like "My Turn" (2020), which hit number one on the Billboard 200, and "The Voice of the Heroes" (2021), a collaborative album with Lil Durk that also topped the charts.

Known for his street-inspired lyrics and melodic flow, Lil Baby has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and won Best Melodic Rap Performance with the song "Hurricane."

His career is characterized by a rapid rise from street life to mainstream rap stardom, fueled by his authenticity, lyrical prowess, and strong affiliations within the Atlanta hip-hop scene.
